Not all heroes wear capes – think of doctors, police officers, firefighters and teachers. As modern day heroes, teachers are changing the world every day. It’s time we said thanks!

Teaching is one of the largest professions in the world. In fact, there are currently more than 543,00 kids enrolled in State Schools across Queensland being taught by 50,000 teachers.

The stress teachers face leads to many teachers not staying in the profession beyond their first five years. Those who do stay in the profession say they finding it extremely rewarding as they spend their time helping grow young minds.

haven magazine publisher Keeley O’Connor says teachers change the world every single day, yet they never receive enough thanks for the amazing, yet very stressful, work they do.

“Teachers really have one of the most important jobs in the world,” Keeley says. “I still remember the teachers who made a real difference in my life from when I was in school. What I learned from them has stuck with me forever.”

To help say thank you to today’s superheroes haven’s favourite teacher competition is running until August 10.

Do you think your teacher needs to hear thanks more? Visit www.havenmagazine.com.au/teachers-rule and tell us why your teacher is the best in 25 words or less.

haven’s favourite teacher competition will be judged by national parenting blogger Sam Jockel of School Mum and the winning teacher will receive two nights away at any ULTIQA resort of their choice, valued at $610. The kids who nominate our five finalist teachers will each receive a $100 voucher to spend on high quality, low-priced art supplies at Ironlak Art & Design.
