Consider Father’s Day (September 5, in case you forgot!) officially sorted, and it’s all thanks to the Scenic Rim. From brisket to beer, soap for blokes to alpaca picnics, Dad will love spending Father’s Day in the beautiful Scenic Rim just as much as you do.

Just an hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the magnificent Scenic Rim is a region of more than 4,200 square kilometres of rich volcanic soil surrounded by ancient mountains and home to thousands of farmers and food creators – so go ahead, buy from the bush! Here are some ideas to get you started.

Take dad to new heights

Does your dad love adventure? The sky is literally the limit in the Scenic Rim. Take him on Australia’s largest zipline adventure at TreeTop Challenge Tamborine Mountain, stroll among the treetops on the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk or book him in for an epic mountain expedition with Mt Barney Lodge. Go even higher with a hot air balloon flight over the Scenic Rim or a scenic flight (that can drop down into country pubs or paddock-to-plate restaurants) with Pterodactyl Helicopters. Dad can even learn to fly with Oz Paragliding and Hang Gliding near Canungra or Airport Qld at Boonah!

Giddy up!

Up for a wild ride? How about a camel ride and tour at Summer Land Camels?! We can pretty much guarantee you’ve never had a Father’s Day like it. You could also experience the Scenic Rim on horseback with Scenic Rim Equine Group or, for those dads who prefer wheels instead of hooves, there’s the Cobb and Co wagon tour with Drayhorse Shires.

Brisket and beer

Our friends at Scenic Rim Farm Box have created a special box that takes all the guesswork out of present buying. All you need to do is place your order and this incredible box of local Scenic Rim flavour will be delivered to his door – then sit back and wait for the accolades! Or, you could book lunch at the Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Café at Kalbar; it’s the perfect way to bring the whole family together, and support a Scenic Rim small business at the same time.

Give dad’s wardrobe some Scenic Rim style

Protect dad’s noggin from the sun and boost his street cred with a one-of-a-kind hat from Mad Natter, or a cowboy-cool, palm leaf from  Cannard Hats, both handmade in the Scenic Rim – you could even team the hat with a pair of world-class, ethically made jeans from Scenic Rim-based company, Outland Denim. Don’t forget that dads like to be pampered, too, so check out the ‘Batches for Blokes’ collection handcrafted by Beautiful Batches in Canungra or Coco and Myrtle’s artisan soaps (which are named after Scenic Rim landmarks and feature beautiful local ingredients!).

Cheers to Dad

Whether your dad loves beer, wine, spirits or coffee, he won’t go thirsty in the Scenic Rim! For a nice cold craft beer, book a spot at Scenic Rim Brewery or Fortitude Brewing Company or for some special spirits or liqueurs check out the Tamborine Mountain Distillery. Dad not a beer guy? Take a Coffee Tour and Masterclass at Tamborine Mountain Coffee Plantation, or take your wine-loving pop to O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards, Witches Falles Winery on Tamborine Mountain or The Overflow Estate on the banks of gorgeous Lake Wyaralong.

Shout dad lunch

You’ll be spoilt for choice if you want to take dad for a pub lunch in the Scenic Rim – there’s fair dinkum country pubs aplenty. Be sure to book ahead to make sure you get a spot. You can find out about the Scenic Rim’s unbeatable pubs here. Though, if Dad’s looking for something a little more memorable than a pub lunch, tell him ‘alpaca picnic’ and head to Mountview Alpaca Farm! If your dad’s more ‘hands on’ (read: a control freak) put lunch in his hands with a cooking class with Scenic Rim Cooking Classes.
