Following a sell-out season of The 13-Storey Treehouse in April, the official world premiere of The 78-Storey Treehouse comes to QPAC this December.

The play is a part of QPAC’s premier children’s program SummerSet, presents a wonderful array of shows for the whole family from December 12 to January 13. Following the page to stage theme, and based on the hugely popular children’s book by Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton, the world premiere season of The 78-Storey Treehouse will entertain audiences aged 6+, taking imaginations to even greater heights.

haven spoke with Teale Howie who plays Terry in the 78-Storey Treehouse. He says there are a lot of scary similarities between him and his character.

What does a usual day look like for you?
I don’t have too many ‘usual’ days. It could include anything from an audition to a rehearsal to a class to a work out. It usually begins with coffee, though.

What’s a life lesson you wish you could share with your younger self?
Don’t put so much pressure on yourself! Also, don’t park in clearways.

What makes you happy?
Listening to the SpongeBob Squarepants musical soundtrack.

Who is your hero?
SpongeBob Squarepants.

What are you looking forward to most in 2017?
Moving in to The 78-Storey Treehouse!

Are you a dog person or cat person? What are your pets’ names?
I’m allergic to cats, so I’m a dog person through and through. I don’t have any pets but I do get very attached to other peoples’ animals.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
The strangest thing I’ve ever eaten is probably the back of a green ant. I think it’s a “growing up in Queensland” thing. It tastes like sour apple!

What book are you reading or what book would you recommend to others?
I’m channeling my inner businessman at the moment and reading “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. And of course I’m well-read on the Treehouse series – highly recommended!

What’s your star sign and what traits of that sign best relate to you?
I’m a proud Capricorn. They’re known for being hard working, ambitious and determined – they’re more than happy to put in a full day’s work at the office. I’m pretty determined to get to where I want to be.

What’s your favourite colour?
I’m not ashamed to say it’s teal.

Does vegemite go in the fridge or pantry at your house?
The pantry, of course. Vegemite in the fridge is a crime!

Tell us a bit about your role in 78-Storey Treehouse?
Terry is Andy’s fun-loving, good-natured, easily distracted, laugh-a-minute best mate. He tends to get himself into some pretty peculiar situations. As I’m researching Terry, I’m finding a lot of similarities between him and myself – it’s almost frightening.

The 78-Storey Treehouse will be showing at QPAC from December 13 – 23 and tickets can be purchased online for $35.
