Welcome to our new look haven magazine!

Before you get too excited and flick through the pages to follow, thank you for sticking with haven – we’re stoked to see you here and be able to share our new look with you! We are delighted that in these wild covid times, we found a way to continue to share family, life and style with you. Take a moment to read our our ‘how to’ so you can enjoy this technology and welcome to the home issue, spring 2020.

How to…
So this magazine is designed to be read anywhere by anyone with a smartphone. We’re still a free read with no subscription (you’re welcome!) and there’s no need to download an app or large files to read us. Simply tap the link and then scroll down to read a page and swipe across to go to the next page. Ta da – easy as! From your phone, you can ‘add bookmark’ or ‘add to homescreen’ and this will create a shortcut on the main screen of your device (the icon will look like its own app but will be an easy link for when you want to read us again or show us to all your friends!).

Alternatively, if you’re using your computer or tablet to get your haven fix, we display beautifully there, too. You just need to tap (or click) to move right to left. Make sure you ‘bookmark’ our magazine in the menu bar and then you can create your very own folder of haven editions.

Home edition
It’s no secret the ‘rona’ has affected us all in some capacity these past few months so, just like we’ve all done physically and emotionally, haven has embraced ‘home’ in this first digital edition. We’ve all learned a tough lesson about how important our homes are in providing comfort and that sense of safety and joy in these tough times (especially those iso-days!). Personally, I found myself potting plants (so not me!) as friends turned to building veggie gardens, DIY-ing their own homewares and completing home renos. I also fell back in love with Pinterest (hello home decor inspo), crushed on loads of holiday homes (day-dreamy vacay goals), researched how to help my bougainvilleas survive (thought they lived through anything but I managed to almost kill mine!) and stocked up on books, board games and chocolate. We all went from busy, gallivanting families to rediscovering the simple pleasure of a slower life in our own backyards.

This year has changed me – I realised that my home really does need to be our family’s castle. And I know that many of my friends and family changed their thinking in the same way. Hopefully this edition will inspire you, too, to invest in your own family’s castle.

We sure hope you love this new way to read haven magazine and look forward to hearing your feedback on the new platform. Remember, this is just the beginning of our creative journey using this mobile- friendly software. Our little (but mighty) haven team sure does miss our awesome print magazine after nine years of physical creations. Know that we’ll continue to adapt and find a way to include print in our publishing mix. We may not look like we used to but we can assure you this hand-held magazine is full of the same love and creativity it always has been while we share with you our greatest joy… Family life.
