For 112 years, the Gold Coast Show has drawn visitors from far and wide with its sights, sounds and mouth-watering snacks. This year, just one thing will change – you can visit for free!

From August 31 to September 2, the Broadwater Parklands will be transformed into a showcase of the best agriculture and entertainment the Gold Coast has to offer. The best part? For the first time ever, the show is completely free to attend.

“It will be hard to beat a completely free event on one of the most picturesque waterside venues in Australia,” says Show CEO, Lavinia Rampino. “We are absolutely thrilled that, after a four-year hiatus, we can bring back the heart and soul of the Show.

“This year’s event packs a serious punch of cultural, artistic and traditional show elements and we are curating the best of what people have come to expect from a Show in this day and age.”

From the Southport Aquatic Centre to the Sundale Bridge, visitors will get to experience the spectacular side-show alley, woodchopping, baby animal farms, pig racing, arts and crafts, beach camel rides, live music, traditional show food, incredible roving entertainment reworks and the gigantic Showbag Pavilion.

Then, at the satellite location at nearby Owen Park and the Southport Pony Club, visitors can enjoy a full Equestrian Program, show cattle and a not-to-be-missed Dog Show.

“Being able to add the equestrian back to the program is something that we have wanted since we left our Parklands home,” says Lavinia. “The precinct will be a spectacle at night, so there really is something for everyone.”

Speaking of night-time spectacles, LuminoCITY – a nightly feast for the senses – will take over Southport throughout the duration of the Show, transforming the Southport CBD with spectacular installations.

“At the end of the day, when the Gold Coast community come together in anticipation of reworks, Dagwood dog in hand, and the cacophony of screams from the rides in the background… that is what the Show is all about,” says Lavinia, “creating memories that really do last a lifetime.”
