Ushering in a new era for the arts and culture in the City of Gold Coast, Bleach* 2019 delivers a jam-packed program – its most captivating to date. Now in its eight year, the annual festival will run until Sunday April 28, presenting 28 unique productions and 132 performances – including four world premieres, and three Queensland premieres – across the Gold Coast’s beaches, waterways, parklands and civic gathering places. Witness the city transform into a playground of contemporary performance and installation when its premier arts and cultural event takes over the city. This year, Bleach* will again celebrate the Gold Coast’s unique rituals and culture with an overflowing program that spans large-scale opera, award-winning dance, eye-popping cabaret, free live music, a thought-provoking political swimming carnival and a thrilling drive-in with a difference. Bleach* will be headlined by its centrepiece event, Verdi’s Requiem, on Saturday April 27 – a blockbuster music concert, directed by Opera Queensland Artistic Director Patrick Nolan, that will feature more than 150 musicians and singers under the stars and see HOTA’s outdoor stage transform into a fiery ceremonial sanctuary.
