Mini museum lovers will adore MoB Kids, the fun series of activities and workshops hosted by the Museum of Brisbane. Today is the last day you can design your own skateboard deck or make your own colour portrait keychain, but later on this week they’re hosting paper food-making workshops, and a session on junior coding for storytelling!

For more than 30 years, Mem Fox’s Possum Magic has captivated and enchanted young people all over Australia. Grandma Poss loves making magic. She makes wombats blue and kookaburras pink. But being invisible isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and Hush longs to see herself again. Possum Magic takes us on a whimsical journey to cities around Australia to find the food that makes Hush visible again.

Witness one of the most beloved fantasy tales of all time come to life like you’ve never seen it before, in an all-new arena presentation! With over 500 performers on a stage the size of three basketball courts, the set is wrapped with a nine-metre high LED screen that brings the show to life with wall-to-wall animations displaying the land of Oz in vivid colour. With over 3,000 individual costumes and 2,000 wigs plus state-of-the-art lighting and sound, this is a journey down the Yellow Brick Road unlike any other!

Dust off your sparkly jacket and blue suede shoes for 10 days of free live entertainment and toe-tapping shows performed by some of the world’s best tribute artists. More than 30,000 music fans from all over the world will come to see the packed program that honours some of the greatest artists of all time, and dancers, musicians, stilt walkers, marching bands, classic cars, and character mascots will fill the streets before the festival culminates in the main event – the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Performance – on July 20 and 21.

Get creative these school holidays crafting your own woven coil earrings and making your own ropes with natural fibres and recycled plastics. Gold Coast artist Rebecca Ray will show you the ropes (literally!) and share her skills of contemporary weaving and natural fibre practices. It’s all part of HOTA, Home of the Arts, NAIDOC: Voice, Treaty, Truth program.


Saturday July 6, from midday // Dracula’s Cabaret, Broadbeach

Your little vampires will never see another show like Drax4Kids, one of the best kids parties on the Gold Coast brought to you by the iconic Dracula’s Cabaret. Featuring pumping live rock music, special effects, comedy, puppetry, dancing and interactive games – it’s an unforgettable day out. The doors creak open for Drax4Kids Saturdays at midday. If you’ve ever dreamt of a Canadian après-ski experience, dream no more – Skating At returns to Brisbane this winter, partnering with Skytrax to bring you the Air Canada Ice Rink, entertainment, icy-cool ice slide and delicious food and drinks. Each session is 45 minutes long and includes skate hire. Attendees can also grab onto a snow tube and enjoy a thrilling ice slide down The Runway or warm up with food at The Winter Market and Maple Leaf Bar.
