RAISE YOUR VOICE WORKSHOP

Created in 2004 by tertiary trained voice teachers, Celisa Urech and Caroline Taylor, RYV started out as a small workshop to enhance their own vocal students’ performance skills. Today, the course now welcomes students in all areas of performance from across the entire Gold Coast and employs many of the Coast’s leading Dance, Acting and Singing teachers, providing a intensive school holiday-based program aimed at students in prep to grade nine.

GOLD COAST MARATHON
Saturday July 6 & Sunday July 7 // Broadwater Parklands, Southport

The Gold Coast Marathon returns for its 41st year, bringing 28,000 participants of all ages and abilities to our golden shores. Runners from over 50 countries will compete in the world class marathon across eight races, including the Gold Coast Marathon, the Wheelchair Marathon, the ASICS Half Marathon, both the two and four-kilometre Garmin Junior Dashes and more. The main marathon event isn’t just the pinnacle of Australian road running events – it’s one of the most prestigious marathons in the world. The flat, fast and scenic course have attracted competitors for over 40 years, and this year’s event could be the biggest yet.

DANCING ON THE GREEN // NAIDOC CELEBRATIONS

Head to HOTA for a very special Dancing on the Green to celebrate this year’s NAIDOC theme – Voice, Treaty, Truth. Arrive early for Yoga on the Green before the NAIDOC activities begin from 10am, with a unique Welcome to Country featuring a short story by local Kombumerri Elder Ray Levinge, followed by a performance of “Giah Gaureima Wonga” (To tell your story) with live didgeridoo. Learn and join in traditional dance with local performer Anthony Cora alongside the Biren Aboriginal Dancers (Biren meaning “Saltwater”) and stick around for plenty of other activities going on throughout the day.

Marine biology is about collecting information about our coast and marine environments in the field. Come along to learn about some of our fragile coastal environments such as coastal forests and rocky shores. SKATING AT FESTIVAL
