Guest expert speakers include breastfeeding expert Pinky McKay, industry leading experts and everyday parents. An awesome platform for the future of Australian skating, Bowlzilla creates opportunities for local skaters to celebrate all that makes skateboarding great with art, music and the competitions is the goal. The unique skateboard festival on the celebrates the end of summer and brings the skating world to the Gold Coast with a unique combination of music and skating. It is part of the International Skateboarder’s Union bowl world skating series and the Australian Skateboarding Federation national bowl skating series. Sylva has been painting for 20 years. Always big, always expressive. Having studied and exhibited near and far – we’re talking the Gold Coast to New York – Sylva has been back in Australia since 2015 but has not shown her work publicly since leaving New York. Now, she is presenting her new show ‘Triggered’ – her first show in Australia since 2001 – at Dust Temple until mid-April.
THE BFG (BIG FRIENDLY GIANT)

Roald Dahl’s classic book about the 24-foot-high Big Friendly Giant and a little orphan called Sophie comes to life on stage in The BFG. In one of Dahl’s most outlandish stories, the BFG and Sophie must team up to save the children of England from the child-eating giants, ably assisted by the Queen of England and the heads of the army and air force.
BROADBEACH FAMILY ST PATRICK’S FUN DAY

Roll up, roll up! The coolest family St Patrick’s fun day is on this weekend to celebrate St Pat’s Day and raise money for the Broadbeach Robina Junior Cricket Club. It’s free entry and the day includes a Parade at 11am followed by Irish dancers, as well as live music, green beer, bouncy castles, food trucks, balloon twisters, face painters, a one-hour magic show, cricket games for kids and much more entertainment.

After sell-out seasons across the world, including London’s West End & Broadway, The Gruffalo returns to Australia! Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in this magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Searching for hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the party mad Snake. Will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo – is there?

Score two workshops for one great price! ‘Learning Differences’, led by Marion McMahon, will dispel myths and misconceptions to ensure that every parent, child and affected adult and teacher can succeed. Then, Lois Letchford will share the story of Nicholas, who went from having the worst learning difficulties his diagnostician had ever seen to earning a PhD at Oxford University.

The writers’ festival for the Gold Coast, this annual three-day event is part of the long-running event that delivers a series of literary experiences along with workshops, masterclasses and featured authors throughout the year. Storyfest nurtures emerging writers and provides opportunities for readers and writers alike, offering over 130 events to the wider community.
WORLD SCIENCE FESTIVAL
Wednesday March 20 thru to Sunday March 24 // Various locations, Brisbane
Presented by Queensland Museum the festival brings some of Australia’s and the world’s most eminent scientists and educators out of the labs and into Brisbane’s Cultural Precinct and regional Queensland. Be prepared to be amused and amazed as Australia’s favourite science communicator Dr Karl Kruszelnicki returns for Extreme Moments in Science. One of the most popular attractions back again at the festival is ‘The Hatchery’, showcasing and supporting turtle conservation, where visitors will have the opportunity to view baby loggerhead turtles hatching from eggs that are incubated onsite and timed to emerge during the festival. The popular and FREE Street Science! extravaganza, will also return and change Brisbane’s Cultural Forecourt into a massive science experiment for two days (23-24 March), with free hands-on activities for everyone, including robots, drones, and explosive science shows on the Osmosis Stage.

Catch radio’s favourite scientist when he takes the stage at QPAC, presenting two special sessions for school kids! In the ‘Q&A with Dr K’, students will get to ask their burning science questions – no matter what they are. And, in ‘Future Careers in Science’ Dr Karl will share why science is the best mental toolbox for endless career possibilities. It’s all part of the World Science Festival.
