Bricktionary: The Interactive LEGO Brick Exhibition // Now until August 7, HOTA

From life-sized animals to fashion and fantasy discover the biggest and best LEGO® creations at Bricktionary: The Interactive LEGO® brick Exhibition. Just like Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught’s latest book, The Bricktionary: The Ultimate A-Z of LEGO®, this world premiere exhibition is built to inspire LEGO® builders’ imaginations and challenge visitors with 6 new interactive build zones, over 150 models from the book and TV’s ‘LEGO® Masters Australia’, never-seen-before creations and over 45 new models from the imaginations of the Brickman team! 


Guided Butterfly Walk // May 5, Gold Coast Botanical Gardens

Find out why butterflies matter and learn which plants provide nectar and food for nature’s winged miracles in this fun, free event. During the walk you will discover butterflies in the Gardens and their host plants while viewing the interpretive butterfly signs. Meet your guide at the Meeting Post before the Friends Centre in the Botanic Gardens. This is a free event but a donation is welcomed and appreciated. Not suitable for children under five.


Shen Yun // May 6, HOTA

The gong resounds, the curtain opens, and a heavenly scene is right before your eyes. Fairies emerge from a sea of billowing clouds. Mongolians ride on horseback across grasslands as vast as the sky. Classic stories of love and loss, of humor and heroic deeds, come to life. You will be amazed by how vibrant, exciting, and profound classical Chinese culture can be. Please note: this event does not permit children under five.


Movies Under the Stars: The LEGO Movie // From 6pm on May 7, Galleon Way, Currumbin

What better way to spend an evening than watching a movie under the stars outdoors! The City of Gold Coast Movies under the Stars program is free, family-friendly fun on offer from October to May 2022, right across the city. Gather your family and friends, pack a picnic and make a night of it at Movies under the Stars.


XXXX Gold Coast Race Day // May 7, Bundall Gold Coast Turf Club

The Gold Coast’s premier racing event, the XXXX Gold Coast Cup will kick off the 2022 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival with a bang! The day promises nine heart-stopping races offering more than $1.5 million in prize money. General admission tickets start from $20 per person.


Psychic + Holistic Fair // From 9am to 3pm on May 7, Carrara Markets

Prepare yourself for a mystical weekend of discovery and enlightenment. Over 30 of Queensland’s best psychics will be in attendance, offering tarot card, tea leaf and crystal ball readings, palmistry, clairvoyant, angel guidance and more. Mother’s Day // Sunday May 8

It’s our day, mamas! Mother’s Day is fast approaching and this year, we intend to celebrate it in style. The last few years have brought homeschooling, work stress and pandemic panic, and we’ve all earned a little indulgence. Why not treat yourself to a long lunch with your favourite ladies, a pamper session or a shopping spree? Alternatively, make the most of the opportunity to spend the day in bed with a cup of tea and a good book – bliss.

Mudgeeraba Street Party // From 10am to 2pm on May 15, Mudgeeraba Village Green, 58 Railway Street

The Mudgeeraba Street Party returns with over a hundred stalls and activities, from market vendors to interactive displays, inflatable fun to competition challenges,  art exhibitions to wildlife education stalls, live music and much much more. This free event put on by the community, for the community, is an annual celebration of Mudgeeraba – Queensland’s Friendliest Town!


GC Beach Parade // May 15, Burleigh Heads Beach

Ever wanted to be part of the world record for the greatest number of people in koala ear visors in a beach parade? No? Well, you can this weekend! Funds raised during this three-kilometre walk along beautiful Burleigh Heads go directly to the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation. Enrolment costs start from $25 and include the koala ear visor to be worn in the parade walk.


GC Suns vs. Fremantle Dockers // Gates open 12pm on May 15, Metricon Stadium

Footy season is officially back, and we’re looking forward to the Gold Coast Suns facing off against the Fremantle Dockers this month! The on-field action kicks off at 1.40pm, so be sure to arrive early with your family and friends in your best and brightest SUNS colours and enjoy the exciting atmosphere of this unmissable Sunday afternoon match.


GC Titans vs. Cronulla Sharks // May 22, CBUS Stadium

Get set for Superhero Sunday when the Cronulla Sharks take on the Titans! Like any good vs. evil clash, it’ll be the home side who will be hoping to be heroes as they take on the “villians” from the Shire. Dress like your favourite superhero character in the stands as you watch some super human performances from both sides boasting some of the most exciting players in the game.


Monster Machinery Day // May 29, South Lawn, Broadwater Parklands

Now in its 18th year, this free family event is your chance to see the fleet of machinery transforming and maintaining our city. There’ll be free activities on offer including live machinery demonstrations, a Hot Wheels display, a sustainability workshop, and a giant sand pit – and let’s not forget your favourite food trucks!
