Sure, the days are shorter, the nights much colder, and we’re swimming in the ocean a lot less – but there are plenty of great things to do during winter here in our corner of the world!
Read a book on the beach
Spending hours basking in the sun, catching up on your latest read is something you just can’t do in summer – not without sweating half your body weight, at least. Pack plenty of sunscreen, your biggest, fluffiest towel and an umbrella and hit the beach to soak up some winter sun. The days are typically much dryer during winter, so you’ll have plenty of rain-free days to relax on the sand!
Have a picnic
One of the best ways to beat the winter chill is to defrost in the sun, which is why you can’t go past a picnic on a winter’s day. Why eat lunch indoors when you could be outside, making the most of the not-too-hot, not-too-cold South East Queensland weather? If you’re wondering where to go for your next picnic, try one of these destinations. And, for the ultimate list of things to pack, head here.
If the sun isn’t coming up until 6.30am, why should you? Make the most of the shorter days to relish a bit of extra time in bed – you’ll miss having the opportunity when summer rolls around. Time spent under the covers doesn’t need to be wasted, either. You can enjoy your morning coffee, catch up on emails or tick items off your to do list all from the comfort of your own bed. At the very least, use it as time to cuddle with your partner or your kids. You’ll never regret seizing those opportunities.
Enjoy an indoor workout
When the early mornings are warm and sunny, we feel guilty working out indoors – why walk on the treadmill when you could be pounding the pavement outside? Winter is when we relish being about to exercise indoors, so we intend on making the most of it during the cooler months. It’s so much easier to get out of bed knowing you have a cosy pilates studio to go to, or a hot yoga session. If you’re looking for winter workouts, check out these ideas!
Catch up for coffee
The past year has taught us the importance of taking every opportunity to catch up with friends – you never know when you’ll be thrown into another lockdown! One of our personal favourite ways to meet up is over a coffee, particularly in winter. Nothing beats spending a crisp winter morning indulging in hot coffee, great food and even better conversation with a close friend. Looking for the perfect place? Here are a few of our favourites!
