Known for delivering the best cuisine to the northern Gold Coast, Marina Mirage has added yet another option for indulgent waterfront dining – and it’s sure to be your new fav waterfront dining spot.

The Gold Coast’s very first King Crab Co popped up late last year, and it’s already made a splash amongst local and visiting foodies with a quintessential summer menu and laid-back, fun atmosphere to match.

Described as an American-style ‘crab den’, the unique precinct first opened its doors in Brisbane early in 2018 and had diners ready and waiting to don one of their signature bibs. They quickly scored rave reviews and had tongues wagging about their take on the classic Louisiana-style boiled crab, and now it’s the Gold Coast’s turn to give King Crab Co a crack.

Much like their Brisbane establishment, the King Crab Co at Marina Mirage is theatrically themed with a nautical style, striped umbrellas, a deck lined with picnic tables, ocean blue tiles indoors and driftwood tones. They have certainly made the most of this ideal location and you can certainly make the time to extend your lunch or dinner and ponder over that view with a wine in hand.

“There is nothing like King Crab Co on the Gold Coast, we are going to deliver a whole different take on seafood,” says King Crab Co co-owner, Karl Daniel.

On the menu, diners can feast on – you guessed it – crab, served two ways (traditional ‘crab in a bag’ or chilled on ice with butters and sauces). There is also a live oyster shuck bar and a woodfire pizza oven, offering an array of tasty toppings.

Wash it all down with your pick from the impressive bar offerings, which includes signature cocktails and spritzes – the product of a collaboration between the King Crab Co team and Moet Hennessy.

Personally, we recommend the King Crab legs and an ice-cold corona combo. Anyone who has ventured state side and experienced crab in Seattle’s waterfront will know the fix you’ll feast on! You can expect loads of sweet crabmeat, seasoned by choice and plan on getting your hands dirty. Sides were shared amongst our family and you can expect a twist on some of your favourite sides, chipotle on the corncobs, jerk brocollini or truffle parmesan to top your shoestring fries. They keep it classy but anything goes! We can’t forget our sweet fix with the cookiewich. And ‘wich’ by the way you could eat with your hands too!

Don’t let the buckets of crab and corona fool you this is one stylish eatery with views to drown in and a seafood lovers It’s an unbeatable combo.

All in all, King Crab Co epitomizes the best of Gold Coast dining – seafood, done well, enjoyed by the water.
