Queensland’s Youth Week has officially kicked off, and you’ve got plenty of time to get in on the fun before it wraps up on Sunday April 14.
A time to reflect on and celebrate the positive contributions of young people aged 12 to 25 in our community, this Youth Week will focus on celebrating the boundless energy young people bring to our communities and encouraging them to look to the future and see limitless possibilities through its theme, ‘Unlimited’.
With young people making up around 40 per cent of the Inala local community, the Inala Youth Service has created Inala Youth Week to celebrate the vibrancy and positive contributions of young people in the community.
Their youth week events include: a design your own t-shirt competition, yoga in the park, live DJ and music activities, cooking and gardening activities, clay creations, and lantern making.
“We have carefully selected activities that allow young people to explore themselves, their culture and their interests,” Inala Youth Service CEO, Lisa Evans, says. “The events are completely free and young people and families can drop in as they please throughout the week to celebrate with us.”
Brisbane City Councilor Charles Strunk says he supports any initiative that acknowledges the wonderful work the youth are undertaking to help Queensland Communities.
“Queensland Youth Week is celebrated across Queensland,” says Charles. “I have had the privilege of working and volunteering alongside some incredibly bright youth that give up their time to volunteer in the local area and develop projects to improve the lives of people living in our community. Their daily contributions continue to make a wonderful difference in our multicultural community.”
